How to Send Walmart and Amazon Orders to Your 3D Print Queue Through ShipStation
October 9, 2026
Stop retyping Walmart, Amazon, Wix, Squarespace and BigCommerce orders into your print queue. Connect ShipStation to Printago once and every order imports, matches its SKU and options, and can queue itself for printing.
"My Walmart and Amazon orders land in ShipStation, then I retype each one into the print queue."
If you sell 3D printed products on more than Shopify and Etsy, this is probably your morning. The orders are in ShipStation. The printers are in Printago. Nothing connects the two, so you do.
Why do my printers only see some of my sales channels?
It usually starts the week a second or third channel takes off. You list the name keychain on Walmart, or open an Amazon store, or move the website to Wix or Squarespace. ShipStation collects all of those orders so you can buy labels in one place. Printago connects directly to Shopify, Etsy, eBay and TikTok Shop, so those orders reach the printers on their own. The rest wait for a person.
That person has ShipStation open in one tab and Printago Orders → + Create Order in the other. They copy the SKU, the quantity, the color the buyer picked, the name to print. They click Print Order. After it ships, they come back and close the order. Then the next one.
What retyping orders costs a print shop
Every order from those channels is entered twice: once by the marketplace, once by you.
- Labor that grows with sales. The channel that should bring in more orders brings in more typing instead.
- Reprints and refunds. A mistyped color or a misspelled name is a part printed wrong, a second print, and sometimes a refund.
- A ceiling on channels. Left alone, the choice is to stop adding marketplaces or hire someone to copy orders.
Printago is 3D print farm software that runs production from order to finished print. It works for a side hustle with three printers and for a facility with three hundred. The ShipStation integration is how it reads orders from every channel your ShipStation account already collects.
How to connect ShipStation to Printago
The ShipStation integration imports orders from every store in your ShipStation account, including Walmart, Amazon, Wix, Squarespace and BigCommerce. Setup takes four screens.
Get your ShipStation API key
In ShipStation, open Settings → Account → API Settings, generate a key if you don't have one, and copy the API Key and API Secret. API access is not on every ShipStation plan. If the page has no key to give you, check your plan first.
Activate the ShipStation add-on
In Printago, open Add-Ons → Marketplace, find ShipStation, click More info, then Activate. It is a free add-on. The card now shows Manage, which opens the integration page.
Test the connection and choose stores
Paste the key and secret and click Test connection. Printago reads the list of stores in your ShipStation account and shows each one with its marketplace.
Every store starts switched on. If one covers a channel you already connect directly, say your Shopify shop, the row says "Also connected to Printago directly as …" and a banner counts the overlaps. Switch those off, or the same order arrives twice.
Start importing
Click Start importing. Nothing imports until you do. Printago pulls the last 30 days of orders, then keeps watching.
How fast ShipStation orders reach Printago
New orders, payments, cancellations and label purchases usually arrive within a minute through webhooks. A scheduled sync every 3 hours is the backstop. When you want to check right away, the Connection tab has Import now with Last 7 days, Last 30 days or Last 90 days.
Orders awaiting payment wait until they are paid. Orders ShipStation had already shipped before Printago saw them import as history and never get queued.
How Walmart and Amazon options become the right color and name
Each item's SKU is matched to your Printago SKUs, the same as orders from Shopify or Etsy. Make the SKU in ShipStation match the SKU in Printago, and the order links itself. An item with no SKU, or one Printago does not know, shows Missing SKU until you map it.
The options the buyer chose come across too, whatever the channel called them. "Color" and "Name" arrive as selected options and personalization, so SKU Variants can resolve them: "Blue" becomes blue PLA, and the name goes into the text on the part. If Walmart calls it "Color 1" and Etsy calls it "Color", add an alias to the variant and both match. One listing can cover every color combination instead of one SKU per color.
How well personalization arrives depends on how well the channel passes it to ShipStation. Check the first few orders from a new channel.
How to auto-print ShipStation orders
Open the integration's Settings tab and turn on Automatically print orders. It is off by default. With it on, each new order goes straight to the Print Queue, where Gutenbed routes each job to a printer with the right material loaded. Items with errors, like a Missing SKU, are left out.
Here is the whole path for one order. A Walmart buyer picks Color "Blue" on a name keychain. ShipStation receives it. Within a minute it is in Printago as "ShipStation - Walmart", the SKU matches, the Color variant maps to blue PLA, the name fills the text, and the job is queued before anyone opens a tab.
What happens after the order ships
You keep buying labels in ShipStation. When ShipStation marks the order shipped, Printago records the ship date and, with Auto-close orders set to When shipped (the default here), closes it. Cancel in ShipStation and it is cancelled in Printago if still open.
The order shows "ShipStation - Walmart", not just "ShipStation", so whoever pulls parts off the plate knows which channel it is for. That comes from Show the marketplace on orders, on by default.
Adding the next marketplace
A store you add in ShipStation later starts switched on in Printago. Open the Stores tab and click Refresh to see it, or just let the next order arrive. You do not set up anything new in Printago for the next channel.
That is the point of the whole setup. Listing on Walmart or Amazon now costs a ShipStation store, not another stream of order entry. You can say yes to the next marketplace and take on more volume with the same hands.
Limits worth knowing
- Read only. Printago does not buy labels, send tracking, or mark orders shipped in ShipStation. Nothing flows back.
- Mark as Shipped without a label is picked up by the 3-hour sync, not the webhook.
- Long first imports are slow. ShipStation allows 40 API calls a minute, so a big 30-day history can take a few minutes.
- Double connections import twice. Switch off the ShipStation store for any channel you also connect directly.
