Where Is Vase Mode in PrusaSlicer (Spiral Vase)

July 8, 2026

Find and enable vase mode in PrusaSlicer. It is called Spiral vase and lives under Layers and perimeters. What it does, what it needs, and when it is greyed out.

Vase mode in PrusaSlicer is called Spiral vase, and it lives under Print Settings > Layers and perimeters. Tick the Spiral vase checkbox. The naming is why people cannot find it: search the settings for "vase" and the toggle you want is Spiral vase.

Where to find it

  1. Open the Print Settings tab.
  2. Go to the Layers and perimeters section.
  3. Tick Spiral vase.

PrusaSlicer handles the dependent settings for you: it forces a single perimeter, removes top layers, and drops infill so the print becomes one continuous spiral.

What it does

Spiral vase prints the model as a single-wall shell where the Z height rises gradually as the perimeter is drawn. There is no layer-change seam, no top, and no infill, which gives the smooth, seamless surface that vases, cups, planters, and lampshades are known for. It also prints fast, since there is so little to lay down per layer.

Why it is greyed out

Spiral vase only suits a single object that works as one continuous wall. If it is disabled, the usual cause is more than one object on the plate, or a model that needs solid tops or multiple walls. Reduce to a single vase-like object and the option becomes available.

Why this matters for a print farm

Vase-mode products (planters, cups, decor) are a popular, fast, low-filament category for farms and stores. The settings are simple, but applying them consistently across a catalog and many machines is where a farm tool earns its keep.

Printago attaches a vase-mode profile to the product and runs it on whatever printer is free, so scaling a planter or cup line becomes a matter of adding machines rather than re-checking settings on each one. See how to set up a 3D print farm and the PrusaSlicer overview.
