The Bambu Lab A1 mini is a compact Cartesian (bed-slinger) FDM printer with a 180 × 180 × 180 mm build volume, targeted at beginners and users with limited desk space. It includes automatic bed leveling, a direct-drive all-metal hotend rated to 300 °C, a flexible textured PEI build plate, a color touchscreen, and an onboard time-lapse camera, with a maximum headline speed of 500 mm/s. Like the full-size A1, it supports the AMS Lite for up to four-color printing but has no enclosure, making it best suited to PLA and PETG.

Pros

  • Compact footprint with minimal setup time
  • Full auto-calibration and direct-drive extruder included at a low price
  • AMS Lite compatible for multi-color printing
  • Color touchscreen and onboard camera included

Cons

  • 180 mm build volume is restrictive for larger functional parts
  • No enclosure; ABS and ASA are not practical
  • Bed-slinger motion can show ringing on fast, tall prints
